Top Dogs dog grooming is a Stourbridge based salon, proudly owned and managed by Liz McCullagh.

Our high-end salon is located in the Old Quarter, which is just a 5 minute stroll from Stourbridge Town Centre. We are committed to providing a relaxing environment in our modern, spacious and clean salon where you won’t find any heating/drying cabinets and dogs kept in cages all day is an absolute no no!

You can be absolutely sure that the utmost care will be taken by our highly qualified and experienced groomers. We have a strict policy where all dogs are treated and handled like they are one of our own.

What We Do

We provide a wide range of services covering all of your dog’s grooming needs under one roof. Whether its your puppy’s first groom or your dog’s regular clip and trim, our bespoke service is based on breed characteristics, your preferences and your pet’s own nature and health, we can provide the perfect package at competitive and affordable prices.

Health Check

Health Check

All of our canine grooming equipment and tools are of professional-salon standard. Your dog’s welfare is our number one priority, so no matter how well we already know him or her, we will always carry out a health check at each grooming session, looking for any common ‘dog’ issues such as signs of allergies or eczema or any specific issues common to your dogs breed. If flea or tick treatment bathing is required we’ll contact you about it first before starting treatment. We’ll advise you quickly of anything that needs your (or your vets) attention.

Bathing & Drying

Bathing & Drying

Dog bathing in our professional bath, using an appropriate shampoo that is natural and kind to your dog’s skin and a conditioner as necessary or requested. Drying - each dog is dried to best fit their need taking in consideration their breed and coat type using our top of the range professional dryers whilst gently using brushes appropriate to your dog’s size and coat; this helps remove any remaining loose hair. This service is also ideal for in between full grooms and it can help keep your dog’s coat in top condition and matt-free.

Styling

Styling

Clipping - Styling your dog’s coat by clipping is popular for all breeds. We can clip according to your requirements. Each clip style will be tidied up with the scissors to give even cleaner finish. We recommend a ‘clipped’ every 6-8 weeks with the owner brushing regularly in between visits. Scissoring - Scissoring is a specialist technique needing an expert hand, shaping and sculpturing the coat in to your desired style. Compared to clipping, scissoring is a time consuming procedure which can reflect in the price. Ideal for curly coats, such as Poodles, Bichon Frise and cross breeds we recommend a ‘scissored’ very 3-4 weeks with the owner brushing regularly in between visits.

Hand Stripping

Hand Stripping

This is a specialist technique used mainly on wire-haired breeds such as Border terriers etc. This technique is the process of pulling each individual dead hair by hand ‘no clipping/scissors’ therefore can be time consuming which reflects in the price. Main advantages for this is to help keep your dog’s coat and texture and colour. This process is not suitable for every dog, to make sure this treatment is suited for your dog please feel free to contact us.

De-Shedding Treatment

De-Shedding Treatment

Double undercoated breeds such as Golden Retrievers and Border Collies can shed heavily during different seasons. Our de-shedding treatment can reduce this by 60% - 80% in turn providing healthier skin and coat growth. This treatment can also be provided for short coat such as Pugs and French Bulldogs. Nail Clipping

Nail Clipping

Double undercoated breeds such as Golden Retrievers and Nail clipping is an important part of our overall grooming service and should be done regularly either by your groomer or vet. Overgrown nails can become pain for dogs and lead to health issues. I offer this service at a charge of £10.

About Me

My name is Liz, the owner of Top Dogs dog grooming salon. In Jan 2009 I travelled to Oswestry, Shropshire for a month where I completed my City & Guilds in Dog Grooming. I also gained three diplomas in Canine Health, Safety & First Aid, Dog Grooming Practical & Theory, and Salon Management.

I started my business from scratch on my own and set up a grooming studio from my home, this laid the foundation for my continued successful business. In 2016, I finally got my shop based salon in the lovely Old Quarter of Stourbridge where I now have a team of 3!

I am continuously attending seminars and dog grooming shows to keep up-to-date with any new ideas, equipment, styles etc and love my job more so than ever. I continue to offer an excellent service to all members of the Stourbridge community and surrounding areas and hope to do so for many many more years to come.

I have a great love for all dogs and will do our upmost to ensure that their experience with me will be an enjoyable and relaxing one.
